Diverting from their regular apparel releases, Daily Paper and Off-White™ have now joined forces to build the first-ever functioning skate park in Ghana. Featuring additional team-ups with social collective Surf Ghana and spatial design studio Limbo Accra, the new space is located in the heart of the country’s capital.
Coinciding with the opening of Freedom Skate Park, Daily Paper is set to release a capsule range with Surf Ghana, as well as an exclusive T-shirt with Off-White™. All proceeds from the projects will be dedicated to the construction of the skatepark, which is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2021. Additionally, Virgil Abloh‘s firm Alaska Alaska, which designed the Freedom Skate Park logo, will be contributing to design elements of the space.
“With this initiative, we hope to evolve the skate culture in Ghana to the next level and give locals a platform to grow their talents within a space that will hopefully become their biggest training ground to date,” Daily Paper’s co-founder Jefferson Osei comments on the new project. “More than board sports, the park will be a creative hub for young Ghanaians to come together, exchange ideas, inspire each other and build their futures through recreational activities.”
Both the collaborative Off-White™ tee and Surf Ghana capsule range will be launching at Daily Paper’s pop-up in Accra on December 21, followed by a global release on January 15, 2021 via the brand’s web store.
