What We Do

PUM delivers specialized, demand-driven advisory services designed to strengthen organizational performance and long-term sustainability. Their experts work directly with partners to refine operational systems, enhance management capacity, and introduce internationally aligned best practices. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic management and organizational development
  • Marketing, sales, and communication strategy
  • Agriculture, horticulture, agribusiness, food processing, and food safety
  • Manufacturing, processing, and quality improvement
  • Hospitality and tourism
  • Personal care (cosmetics, pharmaceuticals) and health care
  • Sustainability, circular economy, and green innovation

All interventions are practical, context-appropriate, and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Who We Work With

PUM collaborates with a diverse group of Ghanaian institutions and enterprises, including:

  • SMEs and scale-ups seeking continuous improvement or expansion, and to strengthen governance and internal systems
  • Farmer groups and cooperatives aiming to improve productivity and market competitiveness
  • Business support organizations such as associations, chambers, and sector networks
  • Vocational and training institutions enhancing curricula and technical capacity
  • NGOs and social enterprises driving sustainable development initiatives

Their activities span priority sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, hospitality, personal care (pharma and cosmetics), and emerging circular economy domains (renewable energy, waste management, etc.).

How We Work

PUM’s operational approach is structured, collaborative, and results-oriented:

Application: Clients submit an online application through their website (www.pum.nl), guided by a team of eight local representatives based in Greater Accra (3), Kumasi, Takoradi, Sunyani, Tamale, and Bolgatanga.

Needs Assessment: PUM engages online with the client to understand challenges, operational gaps, and strategic ambitions.

Expert Matching: A Dutch expert with highly relevant technical and/or managerial experience is assigned to the case. Clients decide whether they can work with the proposed expert.

Project Execution: The expert and client develop a workplan together. The expert works on-site in Ghana or remotely, providing targeted guidance, training, and/or technical support. At the conclusion of the assignment, the expert submits a detailed report outlining recommendations and a clear, actionable implementation plan.

Follow-Up: PUM provides up to six months of structured mentoring to support execution and ensure continuity of progress. Where necessary, follow-up projects can be initiated.

Each PUM project is focused, efficient, and designed to deliver measurable value within a defined timeframe.

Costs

  • Remote sessions cost only the data involved.
  • For on-location execution, PUM funds the expert’s international return flight, insurances, visa costs, and vaccinations.

In this case, clients are responsible for:

  • Local accommodation throughout project execution in a decent and safe facility with internet and air conditioning
  • Meals for the expert during the assignment
  • Local transportation, including transport to and from the nearest airport
