The Foundation for Dutch People Abroad (SNBN) has issued an urgent call to action as coalition negotiations begin in the Netherlands. With key policy decisions underway, SNBN is urging Dutch citizens living abroad to email their political parties now to ensure that the needs and rights of the Dutch diaspora are reflected in the upcoming coalition agreement.
SNBN provides a ready-to-use sample email and a full list of public contact addresses for Members of Parliament, making it easy for Dutch nationals abroad to voice their concerns. Key issues SNBN is advocating for include:
- The possibility of dual nationality and the restoration of involuntarily lost Dutch citizenship
- A pilot for digital voting to address lengthy postal delays
- More flexible passport renewal processes for Dutch citizens abroad
- Ensuring access to Dutch bank accounts for essential services
- Continued support for Dutch education abroad
- Protection of pensions, improved naturalization pathways for non-Dutch partners, a strong consular network, and further digitalization of government services
As always, SNBN continues its volunteer-driven work to represent the interests of Dutch people worldwide. The foundation invites individuals to support their mission through donations—big or small—to help strengthen advocacy efforts in The Hague.
Dutch citizens living abroad are also encouraged to update their personal details to receive more tailored communication from SNBN.
