Holland Green Tech Named Entrepreneur of the Year 2025

Recognizing Innovation, Impact, and Sustainable Agribusiness in Ghana

The Ghana Netherlands Business & Culture Council (GNBCC), in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Embassy, has awarded Holland Greentech the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 title under the global Day of the Entrepreneur (DvdO) Campaign themed “Innovation.”

The recognition, presented on Monday, 10th November 2025, celebrates Holland Greentech’s exemplary leadership in promoting innovation and sustainability in Ghana’s agriculture sector. The award was received by Celestina Danso Arhin, West Africa Regional Director for Holland Greentech, during an interview and certificate presentation conducted by Hilde Famaey, General Manager of GNBCC.

Driving Innovation Through Practical Solutions

Reflecting on the recognition, Celestina emphasized that the award represents more than just an achievement, it validates Holland Greentech’s mission to modernize agriculture and empower farmers across Ghana and West Africa through sustainable technologies and training.

“This recognition is very important to us because it validates our efforts to modernize agriculture in Ghana and across the region,” she shared. “It shows that our mission, to empower farmers with sustainable, high-quality technologies and expertise, is having a real impact. It also motivates our team to keep pushing boundaries and continue bridging innovation between the Netherlands and Ghana.”

For Holland Greentech, innovation means making technology accessible, practical, and affordable for every farmer. The company focuses on introducing solutions that not only enhance productivity but also build resilience among smallholder and commercial farmers.

Leadership, Teamwork, and Empowerment

Celestina highlighted that one of the company’s proudest achievements is the strong presence of youth within its team, with over 90% of staff aged between 20 and 35 years.

“We’re proud to have built a young, dynamic team that believes in the future of agriculture,” she said. “Our management approach is based on inclusion, trust, and shared responsibility. I believe in leading by creating a sense of ownership, not just authority.”

This management style, which emphasizes collaboration over hierarchy, has helped Holland Greentech foster long-term employee commitment and a shared sense of purpose, something Celestina describes as “innovative in the Ghanaian context.”

Challenges, Opportunities, and the Road Ahead

Speaking about challenges, Celestina noted that transitioning from traditional farming methods to technology-driven agriculture remains one of the most significant hurdles. Yet, this also presents the greatest opportunity.

“Change takes time, especially when it requires new investments and mindsets,” she explained. “But this challenge also opens the door for us to show farmers how innovation can improve productivity, reduce risks, and strengthen food security.”

She identified the key to success in Ghana’s agricultural market as building trust and strong relationships with farmers, partners, and institutions, combining local understanding with Dutch expertise.

“Success depends on consistency, offering quality products, reliable support, and continuous training,” she said. “It’s about understanding local realities and working with partners to create solutions that truly work.”

Partnerships and Collaboration

Celestina underscored the importance of partnerships in driving growth, noting that no single company can manage the entire agricultural value chain alone.

She highlighted the role of collaborations with organizations like Advance Consulting and Agriterra, which strengthen Holland Greentech’s impact in areas such as access to finance, aggregation, storage, and value chain development.

“As entrepreneurs, we can’t do everything ourselves. Partnerships allow us to stay focused on our core business while contributing to broader value chain development,” she explained.

She also praised the Royal Netherlands Embassy and GNBCC for their role in building networks, facilitating connections, and promoting knowledge exchange.

“The Embassy and GNBCC have been instrumental in linking us with the right stakeholders. As we look ahead, we hope to collaborate even more closely to develop stronger agribusiness ecosystems and infrastructure.”

Local Strengths and Dutch Synergy

When asked about the differences between doing business in Ghana and the Netherlands, Celestina pointed out that while the Dutch agricultural sector is highly mechanized and data-driven, Ghana’s market thrives on adaptability and human connection.

“It’s not about selling Dutch products, it’s about understanding Ghana’s needs and co-developing solutions,” she said. “When Dutch technology meets Ghanaian resilience and creativity, powerful things happen.”

She acknowledged that local entrepreneurs have taught her and her team resilience and adaptability, qualities she believes are essential for success in any developing market.

Looking Forward

Celestina expressed pride in Holland Greentech’s growing impact, empowering farmers to adopt modern technologies, increase yields, and view farming as a viable business.

If she could start again, she said, the company would focus even earlier on building partnerships across the entire value chain, integrating finance, market access, and capacity development from the outset.

“We’ve learned that success in agriculture depends on collaboration. Building the entire ecosystem together is the only way to create lasting change,” she concluded.

Recognizing Innovation Across Borders

The Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 recognition forms part of the Global Day of the Entrepreneur (DvdO) campaign, celebrated across 16 countries worldwide through the Netherlands Chambers International (NCI) network. The 2025 theme, “Innovation,” highlights small and medium-sized enterprises with Dutch connections that are transforming industries through creativity, collaboration, and sustainable impact.

Holland Greentech’s award symbolizes the strength of Dutch–Ghanaian collaboration in agribusiness and the shared commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.

As Hilde Famaey remarked during the presentation:

“Holland Greentech’s work reflects what this recognition stands for, innovation with purpose. Their commitment to empowering farmers, building local capacity, and connecting Dutch expertise with Ghanaian ambition perfectly embodies the spirit of this award.”
