The month of June at GNBCC was marked by key institutional activities, new programme developments, and continued engagement with members and partners. This report is issued in the wake of the severe floods that affected parts of Ghana on 30 June. We extend our deepest sympathy to all affected communities and victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annual General Meeting<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

June was highlighted by a well-attended Annual General Meeting<\/strong> held at The Palms by Eagles Hotel. The AGM brought members together to review institutional progress and elect new board members. A notable feature of the meeting was a Mentimeter poll, which captured members\u2019 feedback on GNBCC\u2019s performance and priorities. The Private Sector Development Project<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GNBCC is pleased to announce the signing of the Private Sector Development<\/strong> Program, phase 2, with the Netherlands Embassy for the period from July 2026 to June 2030. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on the achievements of the first Private Sector Development (PSD) program, GNBCC will continue to strengthen Ghana’s private sector through an integrated approach that combines capacity building<\/strong>, business development<\/strong>, and an improved enabling environment<\/strong> for investment and trade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the 2026\u20132030 period, the program will focus primarily on the horticulture sector while also supporting initiatives in the cocoa value chain. Through flagship initiatives such as the Horticulture Business Challenge<\/strong>, Women in Business<\/strong>, and the SME Support Desk<\/strong>, GNBCC will equip young professionals, women entrepreneurs and growth-oriented SMEs with the skills, networks and business support needed to become more competitive and investment-ready. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the sector level, PSD2 will strengthen the Horticulture Business Platform (HBP)<\/strong> as Ghana’s leading industry platform, facilitate public-private dialogue to improve the business environment, promote trade and investment between Ghana and the Netherlands, and foster collaboration through the POMBI<\/strong> network and other Dutch-supported initiatives. A key priority is to better connect existing programs, ensuring businesses can seamlessly access support throughout their growth journey while reducing fragmentation within the ecosystem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By 2030, PSD2 aims to contribute to a more competitive, sustainable and inclusive horticulture sector, increased employment opportunities for young people, stronger women-led businesses, more resilient SMEs, enhanced trade and investment between Ghana and the Netherlands, and a business environment that enables long-term private sector growth and innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trade Mission to the Netherlands<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Preparations continue for the upcoming Trade Mission to the Netherlands scheduled for 6\u201313 September. A total of seven companies (12 participants) have registered. Visa applications have been submitted, and travel logistics including flights and accommodation have been confirmed. The team is currently coordinating meetings with potential business partners in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

World Cup Fan Zone Activities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We look back at on the World Cup Fan Zone events organised in collaboration with the Embassy of the Netherlands, Embassy of Japan, Mama Cuisine, Tale Beer, and GNBCC Premium Member Devere. The events fostered networking and engagement around the tournament atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economic Update: Ghana remains on a strong recovery path but inflation is edging up<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Headline economic news throughout June suggests that Ghana\u2019s economy remains on a strong recovery path, although some early signs of inflationary pressure are re-emerging. Economic growth continues to be robust supported by gold production, agriculture, and resilient domestic demand while investor confidence has improved following continued fiscal discipline under the IMF-supported reform program. The cedi has remained relatively stable compared with the sharp volatility of previous years, helping to keep import costs under control and supporting business confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, June data showed inflation edging up again after months of rapid disinflation, driven mainly by higher transport, housing, and other non-food costs, reminding policymakers that price stability cannot yet be taken for granted. The government also announced that, from 1 July, it will purchase 30%<\/strong> of large-scale gold miners\u2019 production to strengthen foreign exchange reserves and support domestic gold refining, underlining the strategic importance of the mining sector to macroeconomic stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the prevailing sentiment in June was cautiously optimistic: Ghana has largely moved beyond the acute macroeconomic <\/strong>crisis of 2022\u20132024<\/strong>, with strong growth, improving fiscal indicators, and renewed investor confidence, while maintaining focus on inflation control, debt sustainability, and sustaining private-sector-led growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
