{"id":18680,"date":"2026-08-20T16:41:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T16:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gnbcc.net\/?p=18680"},"modified":"2026-08-20T16:41:29","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T16:41:29","slug":"understanding-ghanas-new-integrated-tax-administration-system-itas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gnbcc.net\/understanding-ghanas-new-integrated-tax-administration-system-itas\/","title":{"rendered":"Understanding Ghana\u2019s New Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ghana\u2019s tax administration is taking a major step towards digitalisation with the introduction of the <strong>Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS)<\/strong> by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ITAS is a single digital platform designed to bring together key tax administration functions, including taxpayer registration, filing of returns, payment processing, compliance management, audit, enforcement and reporting. The system replaces fragmented processes and legacy systems with one integrated platform, giving taxpayers a single profile for managing their tax affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative forms part of GRA\u2019s broader digital transformation agenda and is intended to make tax administration more efficient, transparent and taxpayer-centred. ITAS supports online filing and payment, paperless processes, real-time data processing, multi-channel service delivery and risk-based compliance management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system is being introduced in phases. A pilot began on <strong>April 1, 2026, at the Kaneshie Taxpayer Service Centre<\/strong>, with selected taxpayers from the Large Taxpayer Office subsequently onboarded. The current phase covers four tax types: <strong>Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Value Added Tax (VAT), VAT Withholding and Withholding VAT<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the article, ITAS is <strong>not a new tax<\/strong>. Rather, it changes how existing tax obligations are filed, paid and tracked.
