Police have launched a manhunt for the driver of a silver pick-up truck who brutally assaulted a 67-year-old man in a sickening road rage attack.

Philip Wetherilt was pulled from his Ford transit van and repeatedly punched in the face after clipping the pick-up when he skidded on ice.

He was left with serious facial injuries and needed stitches to his head following the 'nasty' attack on March 2.

Mr Wetherilt was driving through Pondersbridge, Cambs, in icy conditions when he hit the pick-up and knocked its wing mirror off.

The driver of the truck stopped in front of Mr Wetherilt's car and walked up to it, before pulling the victim out and hitting him in the face several times.

The offender, who is white and described as having short brown hair, then fled the scene in his vehicle after the collision - described as 'minor' by officers.

Mr Wetherilt was treated in hospital and is now recovering at home.

PC Kellymarie Harman of Cambridgeshire Police said: 'This was an extremely nasty assault that has left the victim with serious injuries and in a lot of pain.

'We would urge anyone with any information about this incident or who thinks they know the driver of the truck to contact us.'

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
