The Business Seed Partnership is a 3-year project designed to address key challenges in Ghana's vegetable seed sector. It builds on the successes of the horticulture Combi/PADEO track, leverages the interest of Dutch seed companies in hybrid varieties, and draws on the expertise of knowledge institutions and sector organisations.
The project is aligned with and reinforces existing initiatives such as POMBI and the Agricultural Working Group. It takes a holistic approach by addressing productivity, regulation, knowledge gaps and investment needs while engaging the stakeholders needed to move the sector forward.

Unlocking the potential of quality seed requires more than technology alone. It requires skilled farmers, strong local agribusinesses, reliable knowledge systems, responsive regulation and an enabling policy environment.

Seed Market Development
Strengthen access to quality vegetable seeds, support market linkages and help build demand for improved and hybrid varieties suited to Ghanaian farming conditions.
Farmer Knowledge and Trials
Support demonstrations, field learning and practical knowledge exchange so farmers and growers can make informed decisions on seed choice and production.
Regulation and Quality Systems
Engage public institutions and sector bodies to improve the enabling environment for a trusted, transparent and well-functioning vegetable seed sector.
Investment and Agribusiness Growth
Identify investment needs and strengthen local agribusiness capacity, including nurseries, distributors and seed enterprises serving Ghana's vegetable value chain.
