World Bank Approves US$500 Million to Improve Ghana’s Road Infrastructure

The World Bank has approved US$500 million to improve Ghana’s road infrastructure and transform the transport sector, with the investment expected to boost economic activity, agriculture and livelihoods.

The investment will support the rehabilitation of 1,050 kilometres of feeder roads across the country, helping to improve connectivity and address challenges associated with Ghana’s road network.

The funding is also expected to reduce the economic losses associated with poor road infrastructure, which the article estimates at approximately GH¢4.5 billion annually.

The investment is also expected to strengthen connectivity across the country, improve access to markets and services, and support more efficient movement of people and goods. By addressing key transport infrastructure gaps, the project could help create a stronger foundation for private-sector growth and regional economic development.
