GNBCC – Ghana Netherlands Business & Culture Council

The GNBCC in July

Dear Reader,

July was another exciting month at the GNBCC. In collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Embassy, The Office of the President and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, we hosted a Round Table Discussion around GROW24, part of the 24H Economy initiative of the President that seeks to transform the Volta basin into the Bread Basket of West-Africa. The seeds were sown for continued multi stakeholder discussions around this ambitious policy. We invite you to go through the GROW24 presentation to evaluate how your business could be part of the transformation.

The GNBCC held its Annual General Meeting at La Villa Boutique Hotel on the 30th of July. We are happy to welcome 5 new members to the GNBCC Board.

During the AGM, we had a soft launch of our Digital Trade Office. This website is now operational and informs you on all activities of the GNBCC. We will continue to build on this new platform with enhanced features connecting our stakeholders.

On the economic front, we saw a steep decline in the inflation (13.7% in June) and the reduction of the Monetary Policy Rate by the BOG from 28% to 25% (article in this week’s Newsletter). The World Bank disbursed 360 million USD the first tranche of an anticipated US$730million in foreign exchange inflows aimed at supporting macroeconomic stability and reinforcing national recovery efforts. The IMF Executive Board completed the fourth review of Ghana’s 36-month Extended Credit Facility Arrangement on the 7th of July which allowed for the immediate disbursement of about US$367 million

The appreciation of the cedi and the sustainability of the current rate range continues to spark debates. Herewith an interesting feature from the B&FT: https://thebftonline.com/2025/07/22/exchange-rate-appreciation/#:~:text=The%20cedi%20became%20the%20best,S%26P%20Global%2C%20June%202025).

We hosted a very successful KLM cocktail on the 27th of June bringing the Inflight KLM Experience to the GNBCC gardens:https://gnbcc.net/gnbcc-and-klm-joint-networking-cocktail/
