HBP Supports 20 SMEs at AgriFair 2025 to Promote Horticultural Visibility

The Horticulture Business Platform (HBP) participated as a sponsor at the Channel One TV AgriFair 2025, held from June 20 to 22 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra. The event brought together key stakeholders from across Ghana’s agricultural value chain, including producers, processors, input suppliers, agritech innovators, and consumers.

As part of its sponsorship, HBP secured exhibition slots for 20 member SMEs to showcase their products and services. This aligns with HBP’s objective to promote visibility and create market opportunities for businesses operating within the horticulture sector. Member companies had the opportunity to engage directly with buyers, distributors, and potential investors, with several reporting strong sales and new business leads.

In addition to the exhibition, HBP benefited from media exposure which allowed for broader communication of its mission, vision, and strategic objectives. The platform was also used to acknowledge the support of key partners such as IDH, GNBCC, and the Royal Netherlands Embassy.

During the event, HBP’s Project Coordinator, Barnabas K. Apom, engaged with the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, to discuss the potential for Ghana to pursue commodity specialization. The discussion emphasized the success of habanero production in Ghana and the need for targeted support to maximize its potential, drawing comparisons to the specialization approaches of neighboring countries like Burkina Faso (tomatoes) and Niger (onions).

HBP views its participation in AgriFair 2025 as a valuable opportunity to support SME growth, engage stakeholders, and advocate for sector-wide priorities. Moving forward, HBP aims to strengthen collaborations with media and strategic partners to further enhance sector visibility and impact.
