GRA customs reforms add GH₵1.5bn in monthly revenue

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has recorded significant gains from its ongoing customs reforms, with the reforms adding GH¢1.5 billion in monthly revenue, according to the Business & Financial Times (B&FT).

GRA Commissioner-General Anthony Kwasi Sarpong announced the development, highlighting the gains being achieved through the Authority’s ongoing efforts to improve revenue collection.

The development comes as Ghana’s Value Added Tax (VAT) overhaul takes shape, with reforms in revenue administration continuing to focus on improving the efficiency of tax and customs collection.

The progress in customs revenue collection highlights the impact of ongoing reforms as the GRA continues to strengthen its revenue mobilisation efforts.

The development was also highlighted in the context of innovation in revenue collection, with Otumfuo commending the efforts being made to improve revenue mobilisation.
