Customs bill leaves key duty questions unresolved

Ghana’s proposed overhaul of the Customs regime has received broad support from tax experts, with KPMG backing the reforms while calling for greater clarity on two critical issues before implementation.

The reforms are intended to modernise customs administration and improve the efficiency of trade-related processes. However, unresolved questions surrounding duty administration could create uncertainty for businesses if not addressed before the new measures take effect.

For importers, exporters and other businesses engaged in international trade, clear and predictable customs rules are essential for managing costs, planning operations and maintaining efficient supply chains.

As Government moves forward with the proposed reforms, stakeholders will be looking for further clarification to ensure the new framework delivers greater efficiency without creating additional uncertainty for businesses.
