The Horticulture Business Challenge (HBC) alumni community came together on Wednesday, 15 July 2026 for an engagement focused on business growth, peer learning, strategic reflection and strengthening connections within the alumni network.
The gathering provided a platform for alumni to reconnect, share experiences and explore how the HBC alumni community can evolve into a more active, collaborative and sustainable network that continues to support young professionals and entrepreneurs beyond the programme.
A key highlight of the engagement was a practical Business Development Workshop facilitated by CEO Africa, led by Agnes Anyawen, Nathaniel Agyemang Duah, Mawuko Govina and Joshua Bortey-Mensah. The session equipped HBC alumni entrepreneurs, startup founders and aspiring business leaders with practical tools to strengthen their ventures and improve their readiness for growth.
The workshop focused on strengthening business value propositions, developing effective business plans and proposals, building strategic partnerships and improving access to finance. Participants also explored how artificial intelligence (AI) tools can support business visibility, enhance market positioning and create new opportunities for innovation.
Through practical exercises, alumni refined their business models, gained deeper insights into their target customers and challenges addressed, and strengthened how they communicate the value of their businesses to potential partners, customers and investors.
The engagement also created space for alumni to contribute to the future direction of the HBC community. Working in five teams, participants developed recommendations around key areas including alumni engagement, community building, programme sustainability and strengthening HBC’s contribution to Ghana’s horticulture and agribusiness ecosystem.
The insights generated will support GNBCC and the HBC Team in enhancing communication, creating greater value for alumni and developing opportunities for graduates to remain actively connected to the programme’s future.
Beyond the formal sessions, the gathering strengthened relationships among alumni, creating opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and partnerships that extend beyond the HBC experience.
The engagement reinforces HBC’s vision of building more than a training programme — but a connected community of emerging professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders contributing to the growth and transformation of Ghana’s horticulture sector.
As HBC continues to expand its impact, its alumni remain at the heart of building a stronger, more connected and future-ready horticulture ecosystem.
