GNBCC – Ghana Netherlands Business & Culture Council

Introducing New GNBCC Member: 10Children

The GNBCC is delighted to announce the newest addition to our growing corporate network: 10Children.

Founded in Amsterdam in 2018 by theatre director Liesbeth Coltof and dramaturg Dennis Meyer, 10Children is a Dutch foundation that works internationally to amplify the voices of children and young people living in vulnerable circumstances through arts-based projects and creative storytelling.

Through collaborations with professional artists, social organisations, and cultural institutions, 10Children creates platforms for young people to share their experiences and perspectives. The foundation has implemented projects in cities across the United States, Germany, and India, with new editions currently being developed in Ghana, South Africa, Brazil, Curaçao, and the Netherlands.

In Ghana, the organisation’s focus is on the experiences of Kayayei—young female head porters who migrate from northern Ghana to Accra in search of economic opportunities. Working alongside partners including ASSITEJ Ghana, Ilmiha, the Ghana Italian Women Association, and The Or Foundation, 10Children seeks to highlight their stories through theatre, visual arts, film, and dialogue.

As part of the project, Accra will host a festival in May 2027 featuring a theatre production, visual arts exhibition, documentary film, and conference, bringing together artists, social organisations, and community stakeholders to engage with the realities and aspirations of the young women involved.

Supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana, 10Children represents a meaningful intersection of culture, social impact, and international collaboration. We are delighted to welcome them to the GNBCC community and look forward to supporting their work in strengthening cultural connections between Ghana and the Netherlands.
