Introducing new GNBCC Member: SOS Children’s Villages Ghana

The GNBCC is pleased to welcome SOS Children’s Villages Ghana as a new member of our growing GNBCC family.

SOS Children’s Villages Ghana is a non-governmental social development organization dedicated to ensuring that children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care grow up in a safe and supportive environment filled with love, respect, and security. For over five decades, the organization has worked tirelessly to ensure that vulnerable children and young people are given the opportunity to develop their full potential and become confident, self-reliant individuals.

As part of the global SOS Children’s Villages Federation, which operates in more than 130 countries and territories, SOS Children’s Villages Ghana contributes to a worldwide effort to protect children and strengthen families. The organization focuses on preventing family separation and providing quality alternative care when children can no longer remain with their families of origin.

Through strong partnerships with families, communities, government agencies, civil society organizations, and advocacy networks, SOS Children’s Villages Ghana plays an important role in strengthening Ghana’s child protection systems and advancing policies that prioritize the best interests of children.

Over the years, the organization has implemented a wide range of impactful programmes designed to support children, families, and young people. These include family strengthening initiatives that empower caregivers economically and socially to provide safe and nurturing homes for their children. Where necessary, the organization provides tailored alternative care solutions for children who cannot remain with their biological families.

Beyond care and protection, SOS Children’s Villages Ghana also invests heavily in youth empowerment and skills development, helping young people transition successfully into independent adulthood. Their programmes include education support, vocational training, livelihood initiatives, and advocacy efforts aimed at influencing policies that protect the rights and well-being of children and youth.

Corporate partnerships form an important part of the organization’s approach to creating sustainable social impact. SOS Children’s Villages Ghana collaborates with businesses to develop strategic and transformative partnerships that address the root causes of child vulnerability while supporting corporate partners in achieving their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals.

One notable example is the long-term “Go Teach” partnership with DHL, which helps empower marginalized young people in Ghana with the skills and knowledge needed to become work-ready and succeed in the job market.

The organization attributes much of its success to the support of individuals and corporate partners who share its vision of ensuring that every child grows up in a caring and supportive environment. Through these partnerships, thousands of children, young people, and families have been given renewed opportunities to dream, grow, and achieve their goals.
